Sunnie McFadden-Curtis is a talented and seasoned actor who now takes her passion for film and television behind the camera. Directing her first documentary, "Bullying: A Culture of Silence", McFadden-Curtis brings a fresh perspective to the troubling and pervasive topic of school bullying. The documentary, recently screened at the 2008 ReelWorld Film Festival, is dedicated to offering support and a positive course of action for victims and their families.
With over twenty years experience as an actor, whose television credits include: the soap opera Family Passions, the television drama Soul Food: The Series, and co-host of Black World (MTV), McFadden-Curtis is now taking her expertise in the industry to a whole new level. Passionate about sharing knowledge with others, she has committed herself to presenting this subject in a very personal and engaging fashion, drawing the viewer in with riveting interviews.
A model for many years, she also wrote and directed a short television piece for parents, as an experienced “insider’s guide” to the acting world, for new and aspiring young actors.
Sunnie is also a member of a variety of school committees.
While continuing to act, McFadden-Curtis also has new documentary projects in development. She continues to hone her craft, enriching her knowledge of the”behind the camera” side of filmmaking and exploring new opportunities in directing, editing and writing. She is an active advocate for children’s rights and safety, and organizes school-focused speaking engagements with leading experts in the field. McFadden-Curtis lives in Toronto with her husband and children.
